The Grand Rip Off Called eHarmony.com Is A Conning Dating Site (REVIEW)

eHarmony

If you like eHarmony.com and would like to try dating on this site because of the extensive personality questionnaires that the site claims help them apply their scientific matchmaking and compatibility tools and find the right people for you to meet, you might want to think about it again. eHarmony.com is not as legitimate as it seems at first glance and it’s easy to get extremely overcharged and conned on this site. To learn the truth and protect yourself from eHarmony.com’s rip off and scam, continue reading this review.

What you need to know about eHarmony.com

eHarmony.com will use all available tools and tactics to get to peoples’ money. They claim that the site is free and legitimate, but if you register with a basic membership you need to be careful not to get scammed or ripped off.

1) They Rework and Distribute Your Profile Data

Everything from photographs, to your descriptions of what you want and who you are, to the onsite communications you have with others – eHarmony.com will record everything you post on the site and gain absolute rights over this content. Moreover, your personal info can be freely reused and shared on any other dating services or networks affiliated with eHarmony.com and eHarmony, Inc. or the company can sell these information to other third party contractors. Just think about it, once you post your photograph on eHarmony.com, it will soon be available and distributed to many other dating sites, and you won’t even know about it (unless you accidentally uncover the truth) because eHarmony.com won’t notify you about this – which only accentuates the importance of reading the Terms and Conditions of use before joining a dating site.

EVIDENCE OF SCAM:By posting information or content to any profile pages or public area of the Services, or making it accessible to us by linking your eHarmony account to any of your social network accounts (e.g. via Facebook Connect), you automatically grant, and you represent and warrant that you have the right to grant, to eHarmony and its users, an irrevocable, perpetual, non-exclusive, fully-paid, worldwide license to use, reproduce, publicly perform, publicly display and distribute such information and content, and to prepare derivative works of, or incorporate into other works, such information and content, and to grant and authorize sub-licenses of the foregoing.”

2) Use Of Created Test Profiles

The fact that eHarmony.com fabricates dating profiles explains why the site has a need to collect your profile data. As they will distribute your personal information on other affiliated sites or share them with third party contractors and across other dating networks, eHarmony.com does the same with everyone’s profile information. eHarmony.com runs this service and stands behind all falsely created profiles. This also means that they are behind your dating profile information posted on other networks.

There are several reasons eHarmony.com fabricates profiles:

  • to fill up the site with profiles of members
  • trick you into believing it’s an active dating service
  • send electronic messages through created profiles to make them look more real
  • lead you to the payment page where your ill upgrade to a paid membership

EVIDENCE OF SCAM:Not all registered users are available for matching. From time to time, eHarmony may create test profiles in order to monitor the operation of the Services.”

3) Electronic Messaging Service

From the first moment you sign up and create your profile, you start to get email messages in you inbox, notifications, chat messages, invitations for friendships, etc. This is one of the main marketing strategies of eHarmony.com to lure you into believing there are a lot of people using the site actively. It’s actually computer programs that send you these automated messages, not other site members. And, this tactic is also used with one only goal in mind-Your Money!

The way they deceive you into paying for a subscription is by making you believe that real sit members are interested in you. However, you are blocked from opening or reading their messages unless you pay for a membership upgrade. Also, if you find someone on eHarmony.com that you’d like to initiate communication with, you are unable – unless you provide your credit card info and subscribe to the service.

EVIDENCE OF SCAM: “We may use your email address to send you messages notifying you of important changes to the Services or special offers. Further, we may contact you by telephone if you voluntarily provide us with your telephone number, in order to communicate with you regarding the Services.”

4) Overcharging Real Site Members

eHarmony.com members that sign up for free won’t be able to use all features of the site. But this is definitely NOT a free-of-charge service and you will be required to upgrade to a paid membership to be able to find detailed information about the women on the site, check out multiple photographs, search according to your preferences, send and receive messages, join chat rooms, etc. Put simply, eHarmony.com services are not free and you will be charged big time to be able to use the site. Here are the offered payment options:

  • $59.95 for 1 month of subscription to the site
  • $119.85 for 3 months of subscription to the site

  1. Eharmony sucks! Take my hard earned money and f::c;k me for it and want more.thanks for making me feel raped

  2. I had no intention of renewing with Eharmony. I was confident at renewal they could not charge my account since the account was closed. I was horrified to see a $139.99 charge on my iTunes account who now how my new account info. I stopped going to Eharmony months ago because the amount of scammers that contacted me and then Eharmony sent emails saying, sorry we have cancelled that person for security reasons. Big waste of time. The Itunes charge on my bank account has no reference to Eharmony. Finally I was able to access the iTunes account and was shocked to find the chargeof $139.99 was for Eharmony subscription. I spent 45 minutes arguing with Eharmony that I did not but my subscription through Apple iTunes, I explained I had to use their service for access to their app. I told them at no time was I notified of a renewal by anyone and expected a refund. They said I had to call Apple for a refund. Eharmony also explained to me that Apple sets their own prices for their subscription which Apple denied. I asked to speak to an Eharmony supervisor and was denied the opportunity to express how shocked I was to see a charge for their service on Itunes. Basically, Eharmony is a scam and is now ISO g apple iTunes to basically get their money with no actual accountability.

  3. Never thought I’d be saying it was a good thing I got turned down by e-Harmony. I got the rejection literally 1 minute after finishing their BS “compatibility quiz”. I was completely honest in my answers. I’ve never had much faith in online dating and think they’re pretty much all scams in one form or another. It’s also a very profitable scam to boot. Most people are afraid to die alone. And these sites prey on that fear.

  4. I agree with everything you say about e-harmony but isn’t this also true for all online dating sites? Online dating sites always have two levels of membership. There are the free accounts that an online dating site doesn’t make any money off of and the paid members who pay monthly. Their priority is to get the unpaid members to become paying members. Their next priority is to keep the paying members from leaving. In order to get non-paying members to become paying members they are known to create fake profiles and responses making the non-paying member join up since they cannot respond to this supposedly interested person without becoming a paying member. These fake profiles are also useful for member who are not finding interested people and may consider leaving. The fake profiles are helpful for retaining paying members and for getting their non-paying members to join as paying members. Online dating sites also are accused of doing what is considered poaching where they create a free profile on a competitor’s website with intents to get people to join their online dating site. In addition, the major players such as e-harmony are buying up their competition including online personal sections of newspaper sites that originally offered free online dating ads. They cannot compete against the free online dating sites so they just buy them out. Like e-harmony, many other online dating sites have been accused of creating fake profiles in order to lure people to join as paying members. E-harmony has also been accused of rejecting men who are shorter than a certain height and just claiming that their questionnaire indicated that they are not suitable for relationships because many women members complained that they were matched with too many short men. They all are scams but given that so many people are wiling to pay to possibly meet someone, they are making money. There are many people who gave up on online dating realizing that it is all a scam. Just think about a man who is shorter than 5’11” when they see so many women profiles stating that unless you are a certain height, you need not respond to their profile. Look at women who are not as physically attractive as the average female. They are in a position where they need to post a photo to get more looks on their profile but doing so will also hurt their chances just as much as a guy who is short ruins his chances by being required to reveal his height.

  5. I was cancelled out by them for no reason. They took my money after I joined for a year, and now I have to fight to get it back. Complete bullshit and fraud. Talk about taking advantage of the lonely. STAY AWAY
    FRAUD<FRAUD<FRAUD!!!!!!

  6. Here it is 2018 and most if not ALL dating sites are bullshit. Yet the so called department of regulation, feds, consumer affairs, yada let them continue to operate. Sounds like those who are supposed to keep this crap from happening are sleeping with the people that make these dating places.

  7. My experience started out well however I paid for a Year’s subscription and closed the account after 4 months, then 3 months later I tried to reopen the account, but never got any matches again. They basically did not reopen my account even though I had paid for a full year.

  8. So sick of being scammed. If I were broke, had no personality or job and was butt ugly, ok. How the hell is it that Im compatible but yet have no matches. Glad I came here to find out. Closing my account right now!

  9. Every time I got a smile from someone which wasn’t often. Almost immediately I would get a termination notice. Every single time.

  10. So the big question is this. Why are they allowed to keep going? Where is the legal system, agencies of regulation and consumer organizations?

  11. I created my profile Saturday and paid a 3 month subscription Sunday and today
Monday I received an email that they closed my account for uncleared reason and they got my money for that 3month subscription….grrrr…..I wish I had read this first before signing up with them and I shouldn’t upload any photos yet…

    • That makes zero sense. If you paid for 3 months then that’s what you get. How hard is it to dispute with your credit card? I smell BS.

  12. Awful experience with eharmony completed manipulated and controlled by people who just want your money . Do not even attempt it ! Very suspicious busines practices

  13. Same as other people here. I was also scammed by eHarmony. After paying they closed my account for “unspecified reason”. There is no harmony at scamHarmony. People ask why they’re allowed to keep going. Because they have money (our money) and they pay off politicians. That’s why. Stay away from this scam outfit.

  14. Hey, this was great, thanks for taking the time to write it.Your Article gives me great knowledge. 15. I was checking out the free membership on eHarmony. I delayed paying for a while until eventually someone sent me a smile and eHarmony was offering a 50% discount for signing up. Curiosity got the better of me so I paid, I sent that person a smile back and their profile disappeared. CON!

  16. 2020 and after reading this article I am sure I will never see my money $511. The most expensive gift, gifted to a coworker.
