JDate.com Is Looking To Rip You Off, Not Find You A Match (REVEIW)

JDATE

JDate.com is an online dating site that is specifically oriented towards the Jewish community. This site promises countless meetings with Jewish singles and promotes the site as a place where you can fall in love, meet your soul mate, and find romance and life-long partners in the Jewish community. But is this really true? Well, we found that you have reasons to doubt JDate.com’s legitimacy. Continue reading to learn all the details of our investigation.

Signs of scam on JDate.com

By previously knowing how illegitimate the workings of the other websites affiliated with JDate.com are, we had no reason to believe this site will be honest and true to its users. It didn’t take us long to realize that JDate.com was, in fact, using the same conning tricks to scam and rip off Jewish people looking for their true match online.

Scam No.1 – JDate.com Is Not Free

Not only is JDate.com not free, the site will charge you big money to become a paid subscriber to be able to use their services and features. They do this by making many of the site’s services unavailable unless you upgrade to a paid membership. But, they don’t block all features, as you will be able to explore the homepage and view people’s personal profiles to see if you like them. You will also be able to receive communications, but you will be banned from opening and reading your messages and you won’t be able to write back or initiate a conversation with anyone. This way, you are basically extorted to upgrade your account. Here are your payment options:

Standard Membership

  • $3.99 one-time pricing when making your first subscription purchase
  • $39.99 to buy 1 month of subscription
  • $89.97 to buy 3 months of subscription (automatically renewable at $29.99)
  • $119.94 to buy 6 months of subscription (automatically renewable at $19.99)

Premium Membership

  • $3.99 one-time pricing when making your first subscription purchase
  • $131.94 to buy 6 months of subscription (automatically renewable at $22.99)

PROOF OF SCAM: “Although You may register as a Member of the Service for free, if You wish to use the Service to initiate most communication with other members and use certain other elements of the Service, You must become a Subscriber and pay the fees that are set out in Our price list.”

Scam No.2 – Reuse Of Profile Dada

By singing in and creating a profile on JDate.com, you automatically agree to the Terms of Use, which inform you that the site can freely and lawfully take any information you post on your profile and reuse them, translate them, modify them, distribute them to other websites and networks and even share them with third party contractors (basically sell them) . But, did you read this document to get informed about your rights and duties? It is unbelievable how by only uploading photographs or writing something about you – JDate.com gains every right over your information. What this actually means is that the minute you post anything on JDate.com it is no longer yours. Plus, it will be in no time that you will be able to see your personal information and photographs across other dating sites all over the internet.

PROOF OF SCAM:You represent and warrant to Us that the information posted in Your profile, including Your photograph, is posted by You and that You are the exclusive author of Your profile and the exclusive owner of Your photographs. You assign to Us, with full title guarantee, all copyright in Your profile, Your photographs posted, and any additional information sent to Us at any time in connection with Your use of the Service.”

“By posting information, photographs or content on any Service, You automatically grant, and You represent and warrant that You have the right to grant, to Us and other members, free of charge, an irrevocable, perpetual, non-exclusive, royalty-free, fully-paid, worldwide license to use, copy, perform, display, promote, publish and distribute such information, content and photographs and to prepare derivative works of, or incorporate into other works, such information and content, and to grant and authorize sub-licenses of the foregoing.”

Scam No.3 – Fabricated Profiles

The dating profiles of other site members you see on JDate.com are fabricated and created by the owner company. They are created using profile information from other users who created a profile on the site – just like you posted your photographs and personal info when creating your account. These profiles contain images, data, names, etc. that originally belong to other people and are taken from other dating sites and networks. Now we can make sense out of that rule in the terms of use by which JDate.com is entitled to take and reuse your info. So, just as they modify and distribute your data, they do the same with the info of many other people.

Scam No.4 – Why Do They Need False Profiles?

Remember how in the begging of this review we explained that you cannot initiate communication with any other site member, and cannot open to read or reply to messages you receive? Well, it is a bit fishy that in less than an hour of using the site we received over 20 email messages and double that many chats. This is all a marketing strategy and they use computer-automated messages to contact you, just as they use fake profiles. The end goal is for you to be deceived and give them your credit card info, which they will charge once and then automatically renew your membership at the end of each subscription period.

The point is that, JDate.com uses the fabricated profiles to send you messages and make it look like someone real is interested in you and wants to meet you. Don’t fall for this as it is completely untrue and you will only spend your money for services you are not getting.

The verdict on JDate.com

JDate.com is owned by Spark Networks LLC, which is a company that also owns and runs Spark.com, ChristianMingle.com, BlackSingles.com, and potentially other dating sites. We have reviewed several of these so far, and can conclude that the company uses the same type of scamming tools throughout all their websites. We kindly advise you to be careful when using JDate.com and its other affiliated sites, for your own safety.

  1. I was reluctant to pay the high fee that JDATE charges. I have now been on for 2 months. I actually did meet a couple of ladies right away on JDATE to my surprise. I will never really know the reason but they apparently are not that interested in me and quickly both became aloof and condescending. That I am a decent looking, very fit, educated, personable fellow seems to count for nothing. Since these 2 ladies it has been absolutely dry. I write carefully crafted polite messages and they are ignored. Either the women are actually no longer on the site but their profiles are kept active or they are too spoiled by so many men contacting them , that I am not worthy of their response. I would discourage JDATE to anyone who inquires about it. For men, all dating sites can be frustrating but I have done worse with JDATE. What a waste to write to someone who doesn’t even use the site anymore. Anyone who leaves JDATE they label a “success story” & this is with JDATE not acknowledging that you left out of frustration and disgust. I would never renew with JDATE. It is not a good business model is a waste of time.

  3. I was on there for a few years. I thought I had told them not to renew and I was ill for a while, they charged me $800 and would not refund me claiming I had used the site during that time. I may have logged in once or twice but I was nit aware I was still paying for the subscription. I thought it was on a free promotion maybe. I did meet one person who also had a profile there in real life, But it was feom another another match site He was problematic and after one date we never spoke again even though we became fb friends. Most of the men there were total creeps, only after sex etc and they were verry rude and creepy in the chat. Total waste of my time and I felt scammed. I did make a better biz complaint against them but I never was refunded. They are crooks.

  4. Total scam, they scammed me out of $800 because I was ill and I didn’t realize I was still being charged and they would not refund me. Mostly just a bunch of creepy men there after sex only. Waste of time. I never met anyone directly through their site.

  5. My Review

An extremely terrible service. Dating sites are only as good as the amount of people they provide and unfortunately for Jdate, there a very, very few. Mistake #2 – Pricey for nothing. Jdate charges $30 bucks a month for 6 months – 1 month for $60 or 3 months for $45 each. Talk about ripoff. You know why it’s the biggest ripoff? It’s a ghost town. Who pays top billing for a ghost town ? People who want to give away money to Jdate. Don’t do it.

  6. Jdate now charges high fee just to look at profiles of people who look at your profile. What a ridiculous waste of money. That money might as well be clogged up in your toilet.

  7. J Date is a scam. J – Date keeps expired profiles and actually had no profiles within 200 miles of my area. I tried it once and they kept billing me even though I did not renew. There is a dispute filed with credit card. Nothing is a guarantee but J-Date renews subscriptions without authorizations, fake profiles, then has more fake profiles contact you the day your subscription ends to try to scam you, and do not forget the form letters J-Date sends in response. My profile kept sending out “likes” to people I did not know and J-Date could not fix the problem. You can try J-Date, but will there be anyone in your area ? Fake profiles …YES, Billing Scam… Yes, or you would have to authorize the subscription.
